Hey guys!
I set up my tank yesterday and put in Fritz turbostart and ammonia.
How long will I need to wait before the diatom bloom?

You won’t get a diatom bloom as a matter of course. Exciting time for you! Have you started a build thread?
It really is! It's taken long enough
With starting a new job I've not been able to do anything quickly because I have DIY everything - the standsnand the AIO system. I've never DIY anything before so I figured why not!
I haven't made a thread but I think I will, that's a great idea!!

Congratulations on the new system! You can plan on the next 12-18 months being a time of great changes in your system. Expect diatoms, cyanobacteria, hair algae, etc to come and go. Just don't over react when they show up. I'd suggest keeping them under control (water changes, manual removal) but allow them to run their course. Avoid the use of chemical "cleaners" if at all possible. IMHO, you are much further ahead learning to deal with these things yourself rather than relying on any "miracle cure".

Don't add livestock too soon or too often. Get a small tank (10-20g) and use it as a QT. Nothing fancy needed - a few PVC elbows for hiding places, a heater, a HOB or sponge filter. You'll be glad you did. You can probably avoid introducing many of the nasties to your DT that way.

Above all else - GO SLOW!!! NOTHING GOOD HAPPENS FAST IN A MARINE SYSTEM!!!

Enjoy the journey. I've been keeping marine systems for over 30 years and still learn new things all the time.

And PICTURES PLEASE!!!
