Switched up the sump area to make room for the dos. It aint pretty. But its workin pretty good so far. I also took gfo out of the equation so the santa monica algae scrubber can pick up where the gfo left off.

Little update. Changed up the scape. Moved powerheads around. Getting back on track. Beat Real bad case of algae and cyano and now its looking pretty clean and happy. Everything except my gold torch is looking good but growing slowly. When do you give up on a torch? Built a little cabinet for a power strip, storage, and ato resevoir. Picked up my first acro lets see how it does. Anyone know the name? And added some reefbrite xho k30s to the radion. I think thats about it. Trachy and bounce mushroom is getting huge and my anemone split. Newest corals are the acro a green octospawn and the space invader pectinia.

Looks great! I like the variety. It’s ironic I’ve been planning on getting a 9004, but couldn’t find anyone else running one in a 170. How do you like it? Tunze told me they would recommend that over the 9012 unless I had a ton of fish and SPS. My only concern with the 9004 was the small skim mate cup, what do you think about it? How long can it go before you need to empty? Have you looked into the holiday cup?

Thank you! I actually stopped running it and went back to the bubble magus curve. I had the 9004 in the drain section and it was harder to get to, filled up quick, and i had a feeling it wasnt big enough. Also i felt good about having one less magnet in my water. It was def nice having the extra space in the sump but everything seems to run better with the curve in my system

Hmmm, ok thanks for the input! I have an aftermarket sump with a small skimmer chamber so I’m limited to a simplicity DC 120, Tunze 9004 or 9012. I’ll definitely have to reconsider the 9012.

How is your tank coming? So you have an XR30 and the reefbrite too? I was just scrolling though all the threads of 170s and came across yours again, man is it nice!
