New tank set up

Starting a new tank with aio system. Have never had a refugium and would like to put one in with copepods....I have a uv sterilizer and read they can kill copepods. Can anyone share suggestions on if I should have both and how to do that from the start?

I have 57 watt UV and 40 watt UV sterilizers on two tanks and both have copepods. You shouldn't have an issue.

Welcome! Copepods are a higher life form and should be unaffected by a uv unit on the single pass through. If they were to try living in it that may be an issue, but they wont.

Welcome to the R2R community! I have an AIO myself, with a hob refugium on the back. I‘ve an added pods directly to the fuge in the past but these days mostly just put them directly in the display tank. UV shouldn’t kill the pods.

a UV should not be an issue. As for the fuge, I also have an AIO and I used one of the chambers in the back with a rack for a fuge. it works well, just make sure you get a light for it. I opened a window on the pack glass and put a light there. Worked great.

Welcome! There are some HOB UV sterilizer’s available. Also you could run the sterilizer on a sicce pump and bypass putting it in the return line.
