Buy all the expensive stuff, you’ll regret buying the cheap stuff later on. Na just bugging.

Cheap reefing equipment that is good and reliable is a tough combination.

Any updates?

Sorry for no replies. I have been on the site but just haven't logged in and seen any of this.

I purchased everything I had decided on and started building shortly after my first post.

I went with a Eshopps Eclipse S Overflow down to a 10 gallon sump with Oceanbox Design's sump baffle kit and their Filter sock holder, Return pump is a Jaebo DCP-3000 to Loc-Line with Vivid Create Aquatics Random Flow Generators, 2 Orlush 100W heaters, Coralbox S150 Skimmer, Jaebo SOW-4 wave maker, Viparspectra 165w light, AutoAqua Smart ATO, and a 24w Grow light for refugium.

Cycling went pretty quick with help of Ammonia and a big bottle of TurboStart. Once cycled i added 2 "designer" clowns, a sand sifting starfish, and a skunk cleaner shirmp from my LFS and left it that for 2 months. I added my first coral to the tank and after the zoas survived for a few weeks and i started getting algae i added a CUC from Reef Cleaners. Once everything was back in control I have added 1-2 coral every few weeks. I now have the original Zoas, 2 torchs, a frogspawn, hammer, peppermint monti, and one LTA. I have to really thank my LFS for being a great shop and very knowledgeable. If you are ever in the Southeast TN area check out Aquatic Aesthetics. Just last week I've added a SPS to try and a green chromis (not pictured).

Everything as it sits now.

Every thing seems to be going good. I'm having trouble keeping my Nitrate up but have order some N03 from Fish of Hex to start dosing it. Kind of an older picture of the refugium section as the bio blocks are now arranged on the bottom with a egg crate layer to keep the flow going through the chaeto. Skimmer hasn't been on in a while to keep nitrate up.

I did get some "live rock" from my LFS that was covered in coralline to try and seed my tank and ended up getting a hitchhiker. Can anyone identify this little guy?

Looking good! Send some pics of the hitchhikers without the blue lights
