The red stuff looks like cyano bacteria.You can siphon it out and try adding more flow to the area.

I would definitely look into adding some more flow. I have 2 Hydor Koralia Nano 425 power heads in my Biocube 29 and am going to upgrade my return pump next for the additional flow.
Oh and welcome to R2R and to the BC29 family!

Cyanobacteria... It's normal to appear after an cycle...
