Duncans sometimes are finicky. They like flow...but not too much. They like light, but not too much.
Mine stayed shut for a week till I figured out it had too much direct flow after I switched out a powerhead.
It also closes at the height of my light schedule during the day. My guess is that it uses photosynthesis in the tissue facing the light, but that’s just a guess.
It also closes up the day after I feed it until I blow off some of the slime coating with a turkey baster. Then it opens up wide again in the next hour.
