Hello all. I've had freshwater tanks in the past and after getting far too deep into some research over the new year I've decided I want my own little coral reef.

I bought a second hand 7 gallon all in one and am currently cycling it with some caribsea aragalive and a couple live rocks from one of the local shops. I'm lucky enough to be in San Diego so I went over to the Scripps institute of oceanography and got some free ocean water from their tap.

The plan is to just have some soft corals. I'm excited to see how it goes.

Welcome! Glad you joined. Sounds like you are on your way!

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread under Forum > Member Aquariums and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)

This might help you find people local to you:

This is a good reference book type online article I still review:

Ooh starting something beyond my pen and paper journal might be a good idea... Thanks for the links and the welcome!

Keep up on regular water changes and don’t overstock fish and it won’t be a problem. An auto top off is a worthy investment as well.
