Hi all,
I wanted to document my first saltwater tank build that I started in December. I have always wanted a saltwater tank but was to busy with school and work. However, I a few decent deals on saltwater equipment and decided to invest in a reef tank. Thought I would be satified with a nice AIO setup, but that quickly changed when I decied to incorporate a sump into the build. I have been contimplating the idea of getting a mandarin and learned that a chaeto farm was an effective way to keep a contstant supply of pods.
Tank Equipment:
Tank: RedSea Max Nano Peninsula
Rock: AF Rock
Sand: CaribSea Special Grade
Powerhead: Vortech MP10
Light: RedSea LED 50
Sump: Fiji Cube 15
Lid: RedSea DIY
Pump: Sicce SDC 6.0
Misc:
Controller: Neptune Apex A3
UV: Aqua Ultraviolet 25 Watt
ATO: JBJ Nano
Heater: 100W Titanium w/ InkBird
Salt: AF Salt / TropicMarin Pro Reef Salt
Testing:
Hanna: Salinity Tester, Alkalinity, Phosphate ULR, Calcium,
AquaForest: Nitrate, Alkalinity, Calcium
TropicMarin: Glass Hydrometer
Livestock:
Fish:
2 Black Ice Clownfish
CUC:
1 Skunk Cleaner Shrimp
3 Scarlett hermits
3 Red Leg Hermits
3 Blue Leg Hermits
3 Mexican Turbo Snails
3 Astrea Snails
3 Tiger Trochus Snails
4 Nassarius Snails
Coral:
1 Bubble-tip Annemone
Im planning on adding a couple of more fish and corals but havent decieded yet (figured I should slow down). I know that I rushed a bit when I decided to add the annemone, but its currently doing great in the tank. If you have any questions or any thoughts on what I could do better please leave a comment. I am trying to work on my PATIENCE, but hopefully I havent screwed up to badly. Also, any advice on teaching an anemone to host a clownfish?
Thanks for reading!
***UPDATE 2/18/2023***
Swapped out the RedSea ReefLED for a Kessil A360X.
Have on order a Neptune Trident - been on backorder
Fish:
Liopropoma Susumi
Twin-spot Goby
Yellow Banded Possum Wrasse
