Hi all,
First-time poster and a newbie! I've always dreamed of owning a saltwater aquarium and lurked on Reefcentral for over 10 years (!), but never actually did it until a dear friend gave just the right push. Just set one up in March of this year in my office, so about nine months now. The tank is a 10 gallon Aqueon, with a mix of SPS, LPS, softies and macroalgae. There is no filtration of any kind except for a HOB filter that has no floss, but does have a bag of carbon.
I attach the tank shots as of today.
Current tank inhabitants are:
SPS: 1x Montipora digitata, 1x pink Pocillopora, 1x pink Stylophora, 1x purple Milka Stylo
LPS: Blood orange and 24k Leptoseris, Hot pink Stylocoenellia, 1x red Acan, 1x Hammer, 1x Frogspawn, 1x Blue Raven Blastomussa, 1x Duncan, 1x Candy Cane
Softies: 2 gorgonians and 1 Cespitularia
Zoas: Fruit Loops, (recently introduced): Pink Diamonds, AOI, Purple Space Monsters, Orange Oxides, Tubbs blues, Purple Urple/Purple Death Palys
Algae: Pom-pom gracilaria, Dragon's breath (Halymenia), and Red grape algae (Botryocladia).
Inverts: 1 yellow filter-feeding cucumber, 1 porcelain crab, 1 halloween crab, 1 pithos crab, 1 blue-legged hermit crab, 2 small and 2 large feather duster worms, 1 money cowrie, lotsa trochus and astraea snails.
Fish: 1 yasha goby (paired with a pistol shrimp), 1 sharknose goby.
As you can see I'm facing a plague of aiptasia. I introduced Berghia nudis about a month ago and occasionally see them out and about. They've grown really massive--but they've yet to make a dent in the population yet. Waiting for the eggs to hatch...
