I bought this light for my tank back in november '24. I've been doing research on how to set it up and what not, anyways, I just discovered that the light was discontinued and I'm torn between just buying the 2nd gen or just figuring out how to use it. It's SUPER bright, and I think it might be over kill. I can't find anything about a controller for the light so I'm not sure what settings to even keep it on during the day/ night. Any recommendations? Or should I just buy the new gen?

What size tank and how high is it being mounted off of the tank. A par meter will be your best friend

It's a 55 gallon long reef and fish light. It says to keep ot input 6 inches from the top of the water. I haven't set it up yet, because is it even worth using it since it's been discontinued? I can not find a controller for it anywhere

It will still work. No reason to not use it unless you really want the new version. As for settings and mounting, I personally would mount it a few inches higher if possible. Usually it's best to not max out the settings unless you get a par meter to rent. It also depends on what corals you want to keep.

Okay. I'll do it for 10inches then. I'm also far from being tech savvy so the remote would just be more benefit in a way. Is that where the PAR meter comes into play? Does it tell me how bright the light is in a sense?

Gen 2 controller is compatible w/ gen 1...
Unless Amazon is lying..
You can't "mix" 1 and 2's though and Nicrew 30 was always different.
The port on the gen 1 is 0-10v analog..
