My tank is one year old but I only have fish at this point. My numbers are all good but my Nitrate is zero. Is this an issue since I have some fussy algae on my rocks. This algae is new and not that bad. My other numbers are:

phosphate .03
Calcium 425
Alkalinity 7.9
Magnesium 1240
PH 8.0

What are you using to test for nitrates? Have you gotten second opinion? Most LFSs will test a water sample for not much cost (free - $10).

Your tank is just becoming a man and growing some peach fuzz…sorry.

You could find a new source other than algae- a refugium for instance or bio pellets but honestly a CUC may be in order if you don’t have one.

I can say that flow plays a big part. The last time I had a powerhead drop significantly (but still worked) algae grew where it normally hit.

I have all Hana testers

my Nitrate is zero. Is this an issue

Nitrates at zero (really at 0) people tend to complain nitrate problems

Hanna nitrate checkers are two models - low and high - perhaps you have both and perhaps your LOW is saying 0 ... good for you!

Second opinions are very helpful if something seems wonky.

Manually remove the algae, cut back to a weekly 5% or less water change, plus feed that one fish a bit more and nitrates will raise above zero. You essentially have an in-tank algae scrubber right now.
