so quick question guys and gals. What’s the best test kit for nitrates? Been having dino issues over the last year and so I’m watching my levels to keep the dino at bay and I have a hard time with the color change stuff. I ordered the Hanna checker for phosphate but need something better then the api test for nitrates. Digital would be best

Thanks
Matt

Red Sea or Tropic Marin make great nitrate test kits.

Nyos is good if you nitrates are low. Red Sea is good but it’s hard to read at lower levels

I can’t get a reading over 0 so I would guess it’s low low.

I always suggest having 2 test kits just in case one is faulty, just to ensure all is accurate.

I really like the NYOS. There is a bit of subjectivity (as most have) when reading shades between say 5-12, but overall it's very easy to use.

Well I struggle as others do with telling what color looks like what. I just watched the brs investigates video showing both the Red Sea and nyos kits both preform great. Red Sea did better at ultra low with not having to dilute the sample.

Has anyone in our reefing community tried the Hanna expensive model?

Probably gonna order both Red Sea and nyos but digital would be preferred of course

Yes Hanna checkers are legit. Just pricey, I use Hanna now for all tests. But Red Sea is second if you want more affordable option.
