I like the Red Sea Pro Nitrate kit. you have the option of running a low-range or a high-range test.

My tank runs next to no nitrates (usually between .25 and .50 ppm) and always has, so I need the low range test to get any readings on my tank. I recently started dosing nitrates and now I'm getting 5ppm on my color wheel. Curious to see if running higher nitrates will lead to healthier or faster growth in my tank.

Either result is fine for a hobby grade test kit. It's probably how you're reading the result, or your testing methodology.

just pick the one that gives you a warm fuzzy happy feeling and stick with that one. Toss the other
