I have both the Nikon (a D90) and an Apex Controller. If I had to give up one, out goes the camera. You can buy a fairly cheap point and shoot camera that does a very good job, but I consider the Apex to be indespensible.

Ask a bunch of reefers between a camera, and a reef controller - The Controller for sure...LOL. My opinion at least

What about waiting on the new Apex Jr? For 150 bucks... maybe you could get both?

I kinda wish I had a better camera.. all this tank work and not much to show people with kinda sucks!

Wish I could "Like" this as in Facebook lol

I do understand your dilemma however it does require a new skill set to get good quality pictures. I went the camera route (wasnt thinking I would need a controller) I still have a $500 piece of plastic that gets barely any use and I wish I had a controller, but if you know your way around a camera you can use it to make the extra $500 it costs for the controller.... a conundrum indeed

I voted for the controller, but if I were to make the purchase myself, I would buy the Canon D10 under water camera, and the Reef Angel controller. Just my .02.
