No idea - encrusting purple thing

Not sure what this is. It’s encrusting. Mildly slimy. I was thinking some kind of trailing eggs. But it’s too encompassing to be that. Really have no idea.

Well that was quick. Thank you. Are they common? I’ll do some reasearch online. I’m guessing, being a tunicate, I don’t have much to work about.
