Does anyone know aof a straight forward video or instructions for setting up the ap connection? Ive had these k7 minis for a week and they will not connect to my wifi. I have set wifi to 2.4 and 5 and neither work. This is easily the worst app and wifi product Ive owned...

I guess you get what you pay for. Should have paid one of the big brands double the money to at least have a usable light.

sounds like you are not setting them up correctly.
From what i remember when I had my k7 III Pro on a tank a few years ago.
First when you want to add them you have to go out and select the wifi network the light itself creates. Once you are connected to that you go back in and then finish setup and then connect to your wifi.

Got that. Cant figure out master slave setup. They should be paying us for our time figuring this stuff out without any customer service to speak of... Would never recommend this vrand to anyone.

yeah, the ap connection is weird, never got it to work, i just switch wifi

why wouldnt u recommend this brand to anybody? so many people use them and have amazing tanks? just cause u cant get something to work, same here, but i recommend this brand to so many people, becuase of how good it is

I connect to the light via AP mode. You have to pick the light as your connection not your WiFi and the app will connect you directly to the light. I've never had much luck using Wi-Fi but AP works well, at least to connect. As far as setting Master/ slave it's a monkey dance with the buttons on the lights and I can't remember that part. It does suck but like most things it's easier once you get a handle in it. I have the patience if a nat so I get your frustration.

EDIT: Take a drink or a smoke and have another go at it. It usually takes me enough tries I feel like I'm stupid and want bang my head against the wall. The good thing is once you get it you don't have to worry about it again.

Apologies if the mini is different than the K7s i have 6 K7s nut never used a mini.

I gave up on the wifi and used AP mode when I owned one. I had an unused tablet I dedicated to controlling it.

yea i think I used AP as well. Cause I always had to switch to the network when making adjustments. Never had any problems with it using that way. It was much better than the K7II I had before with that weird remote you had to use to program.
They are great lights and really good bang for the buck

So after further research through reddit and forums (because company website is terrible) Ive found that you cannot set the minis up as master and slave. Even the product itself came with instructions on how to do this. Apparently those instructions are only for the k7 pro.

Its not the end result that is terrible, it is losing hours of your life to trouble shooting things the company should be able to provide you with as a paying customer. As an example the only contact I know of state side got back to me about tracking three days after I recieved the product... So, from the time I sent him a message to his response was about a week. I also had to re drill holes to be able to use the included hardware. When I get home I will attempt to link pics to the lense that is scuffed (inside not surface). Its the experience as a whole that is bad.

Master/slave is when the lights sync to eachother so they run the same schedule and both can be controlled at the same time.

For the k7 mini you have to navigate the noopsyche trash app and connect to each and set up each individualy. Then if you want to adjust say, for new corals or daylight savings time, you have to do it all over again for each.

Wouldnt be a big deal if the app worked well. But, it doesnt work well. Doesnt even connect 75% of the time. And as far as I can tell from my own experience and reading here and on reddit the wifi setting doesnt work period.

If its pro its not the same as mine.
