I am thinking of changing my NOPOX out for Vinegar after reading a bunch of stuff on Vinegar. It sounds like the way to go.

What do you guys and girls think? Should i change?

I think it has the same effect... they are both carbon dosing methods that help beneficial bacteria grow and process nitrates.. i do think vinegar might be cheaper though

Any idea on how much i will need to dose. I have about 50 gallons of TWV is all. And i'm dosing 1ML a day is all of NOPOX

Following, ran out of NOPOX last week and undecided if I should continue or switch. I'm dosing the same amount as well.

I've seen a couple different charts on how much to dose. But since we are using NOPOX i'm guessing when we switch over we won't have to get our tanks used to it since we are already carbon dosing.

If you want a ratio of Vinegar and Vodka close to redsea's nopox you can make up 1 liter of 590ml Vinegar to 410ml vodka and use pretty much the same dosing schedule.

I personally like a ratio weighed more toward vinegar via a ratio another forum member was using well before nopox came on the scene. He uses approximately 690ml vinegar to 310ml vodka.

All assuming 80 proof vodka and 5% vinegar. I used that ratio very successfully myself for a while.

I would just buy cheap store brand vinegar and Barton's vodka which I could get a large bottle for under $10 locally.
