Today I'm thinking about all you community members who regularly start new threads/topics and wondering what makes you tick!

Are you one who likes to create new thread topics/discussions?

Is it because you need answers or because you like to get good discussions going or what is it?
Yes, I like starting topics. I usually am knowledgeable about the topic and wish to know more. Similar to a good classroom teacher: questions about the topic makes one learn it better. Also, with such a broad audience, different perspectives are brought to light.

Think I have like 9 pages of threads. . . Probably too many.

Usually I make them because I have a question I want answered. Sometimes I just want to share something I think is cool. Getting good discussions going. . . Not my forte hahaha

I'm Late to the party as usual, I have posted threads for information, I have also posted threads asking about something even though I already have done it or have my way of doing it. I like seeing other information and views on a topic.

I rarely start threads unless I have a new project of some type to share.

I love to because I want answers and I love having deep discussions. The reason I dont post more is bc I don't want to seem like a pest lol

I will tell you frankly why I DON'T create topics... there's a zillion threads/posts a day here and usually threads just get a few replies from random people with no credibility and then get buried. I only trust about a half dozen people here so I tend to just try PM instead. I don't trust anyone unless I've seen impressive pictures of their tank. Many of the most popular posters here are on my ignore list for various reasons. There is a signal to noise ratio problem (common to social media, not just this site) that requires a strong filter. So I tend to only post threads to say "hey check this out" or when I'm selling things, rather than to solicit advice.

I see some people start threads asking for help and get some answers but never respond to their own thread ever again...I just stop looking at those threads from those people because it just seems like they want a thread count or something else but not actual answers

Well then... Today's question is a dumb one .. I'm embarrassed to start a thread to ask... But I researched and can't find the answer...

I just got goniopower and I've circled the directions:

I like the feeling of community in this forum, a lot of people are genuinely willing to help. I also find that sometimes older threads don’t necessarily reach a conclusion where I feel I’ve gotten every perspective to make a decision if I have a question so I’ll ask in my own thread.

Sometimes I start threads because I am curious about opinions even though I don’t necessarily have a vested interest or problem that needs an answer right away.
