Not your standard bubble coral... ID please

Was at a LFS today I’ve never seen one of these before... thought it was a bubble but doesn’t have a similar base... thoughts?

It kind of looks like a mushroom. Any other photos?

We originally thought it was a ricordia, but it has a skeleton like a bubble but short and rocky. We ended up getting the piece... We’re in our way home with it. More pictures to come once it’s in QT...

I noticed you have a puffer in you tank...we used to have one and he started nipping on corals so we had to trade him :(

It could be a pearl bubble coral. They are a similar species with smaller bubbles.

Yep we’re in Seattle... we like doing the Bellevue circuit. Saltwater City, Sea King, Seattle Corals and Barrier Reef... we made a special trip out to Silverdale to The Shark Reef, Eric (owner) had a Hawaiian Cleaner Wrasse in hold for me sadly like most cleaners it didn’t make it. If you’re looking for fish I’d recommend him, he had a Kole that had some amazing color, best I’ve seen under white light.

We do have a Valentini puffer inverts keep him busy so he’s stayed away from the corals for now. We haven’t had any issues yet (fingers crossed) so if we keep our CuC stocked I think we’ll be okay.

The whole piece was $175 - seemed like a good deal for a 5in piece we were doing some online compares. It was actually my wife that wanted to get it I wasn’t going to say no to that lol

I've never been to the Shark Reef but we will definitely have to check him out.

Our puffer did ok for a while but he must have gotten bored and went for our lps hahah
