How do you like your tank so far? I am thinking about picking one up. Would you recommend it?

I have one of these as well. Started 2 weeks ago. Great tank! Awesome dimensions. Only complaints I have is the water level in the display is lower than it really needs/should be. Tank only holds about 25ish gallons of water, so not quite 30.

Loving the scape. Keep it up!

What has been your favorite piece of equipment on the tank so far?

I cant help but think that this would get a lot more traffic in the members aquarium section or the AIO section.

Added a new friend today. Added a Diamond Goby to the tank. He has already begun making a home and as they always do, moving everything around.

I was gone from the tank for a week and came back to my montis not looking good. Bleaching out and fading fast. I quickly did a water test to see what was going on. Below are the results

Ammonia - 0 ppm
Nitrites - 0 ppm
Nitrates - 15 ppm
Phosphates 0.06 ppm
PH - 8.1
Salinity - 1.025
Alkalinity - 4.64 dkh
Calcium - 464 ppm
Magnesium- 1600 ppm

Obviously the alkalinity is the main issue here.

My Kalkwasser is not enough to keep up with the demands. I quickly did a 30% water change and brought the Alkalinity up to 7.43 Dkh. Happy to see this back up now. I figured that a quick swing in Alk to get it into range is less traumatic than letting it slowly rise and be in the 4-5 range. Time will tell.

I am going to stop using the Kalkwasser for now and will start dosing The Red Sea Reef Foundation alkalinity tomorrow to get it around 8.5. Once at this range I will do daily Alk tests to see how much it depletes each day. Once I get an average I can zero in on the dosing.

Good job keeping up on the alk. Toughest part of the hobby IME. Part of the reason I moved towards soft corals lol.

So far everything looks like it may be coloring up a little. Hopefully this will continue to improve. The montis are the only thing that was affected.

The Yuma also decided to have two babies this week. They are small and hopefully will survive.
