Hello. Looking to drill my nyos 120 skimmer cup and looking to see how others did it. Cup is curved on the side and also very little room on the bottom but maybe if some special fittings. So would love to see what others have done.

Are you drilling it to create a drain?

This is my 160, came as you see, I didn't realise the 120 doesn't have a drain!

I had an old reef octo that didn’t have a drain, I used a soldering iron to melt a hole in it. Went from the inside out. The iron pushed the material out and allowed me to clean it up with a drill bit. I then tapped the hole and used a threaded fitting with rodi line for the drain. Worked great until it got busted in a move.

It is pretty simple really. I used a John Guest 3/8 x3/8 stem to barb fitting, 3/8 Uniseal and 3/8 orange tubing to connect my Nyos 120 to an Avast Maribe skimmate locker.

I put a piece of masking tape on the outside and inside of the cup. Then used a step drill bit to drill the hole. Insert uniseal and stem fitting, done.

If I remember right I was able to find the stem fitting and uniseal from U.S Plastics.
