The bottom line is that reefs are hurting and disappearing globally for a number of reasons. The last thing vulnerable reefs need are the effects of anthropocentric climate change caused by CO2 and by fossil fuels. Suggesting that current trends are not alarming or of concern because of historic changes creates a false sense of security and completely ignores the important concept of scale, rate of change, and type of change.
