Update on the ugly/nasty stage: I'm afraid to take pics -- skimmer is going crazy and one snail is not doing much. I need to get more snails/urchins this weekend. In the meantime, I've turned off the lights! A few test corals are now in the frag tank so we should be good. Softies (zoas & giant mushrooms) are doing well but don't think I'm ready for SPS frags yet.
Best of luck to overcoming the ugly stage!

Major algae die-off since we were on vacation last week with the light off. Oh btw, I’ve poured 8 x 20lbs CaribSea bags of sand in the tank! The plan is to make this a nem-only tank so need sand. lol

Skimmer has been replaced by chaeto from the other tank. This is definitely low maintenance - I hated the idea of cleaning the skimmer cup every 3-5 days! Will post water parameters later this week.

Two giant Haddoni carpets (one blue and one multi-colored green) are home, courtesy of a kind R2R member — this is such a great community! I’m truly blessed.

I bought some damsels (hopefully not fish food), blue tuxedo urchin, two tiger conches, and 20 turbo snails!

Apologies for some bad iPhone pics

I've always liked the waveboxes as I'm a BIG fan of tunze in general. If money wasnt a object, I'd have more of their gear, its the longest Ive seen in action consistently. I think those and sea swirls are the best thing out there for larger tanks (6+ft length or 150g plus). I know they are old school but man they are a drop it in and forget about it, like for years.

It’s been sitting in my garage doing nothing so making it work! Agreed — Tunze lasts a lifetime! I still have some old ones in the closet somewhere and I’m confident that they will work fine — just too bulky hence I went with MP40s

Well, if this works out — I’ll move 2 MP40s to the main SPS tank! ;)

Looks like the Haddonis got a new neighbor: a Sang Lee Colorado Sunburst!

I’m digging the blue Haddonis — laying out the carpet welcoming the new neighbor. It’s prb 12-14” wide.

@Lost in the Sauce need your help! How can I score a gig? Any color will be fine…I’ve never had one so this is my first gig…
I see you are in Newport Beach. I'm not all that familiar with any of the shops down in Newport but Someone down there has to order from Sea Dwelling Creatures. That would be your best bet as the supplier.

@Eric Cohen was previously able to hand pick a beautiful H Mag. for me. I'm not positive that he's still in the game but if he is, I'd go to him.
