Hello. A friend of mine tore down his tank a while ago and I inherited all his stuff including a profilux 4 controller. It’s been sitting in storage for a while and I’ve decided to finally set up the tank.

First thing I did was plug the P4 in to get it updated and ready to work, but I think the controller is stuck in a fatal error.

See video:

I’ve tried resetting to factory defaults and that did not reset the errors. I also tried updating firmware but it gets stuck and tells me to power cycle the controller.

When I do, I continue getting the same alarm and erratic screen behavior.

Nothing is plugged in to the controller.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It looks like the capacity controls runs by their own. Have you a possibility to log in with USB and GCC and adjust the touch keys as Gaël suggest above.

If it have been stored a long time in humid condition - I would try to dry the unit for a while.

If you need to do a emergency update - download the instructions here

Thank you. The above did not help as I’m not able to even get into the controller to start assigning devices.

To be clear, many alarms are showing together (PH, Temp, PAB, etc).

I did however manage to recalibrate the keys, but unfortunately the issue of the menu just cycling endlessly continued.

I moved onto this step after not having luck with the above.

Unfortunately, I got the below error message. I did ensure the correct COM port was selected and I confirmed that it works because I can connect to the device, using the same port number, in GCC.

I should note, every time I pressed the blue reset button during the process, I would get a COM connection error. The device would reset but then no long appear under ports in device manager.

I then tried to do full download with resetting with blue button and that’s when I got the time out error

It looks like some post I have done just disappear.

Sometimes its happens that the flash utility program use another com port than GCC does. Use your window device manager to show which port your flash program use. Change to that before you hit run.

Thanks @Lasse. That was able to reset the device and I was able to update the firmware to the latest. All alarms are now clear.

Unfortunately, the capacitive keys are still going crazy. I did a deep clean on the device to ensure there was no moisture anywhere in the board. There wasn’t. That said, it’s easy to tell the device was kept in a humid environment (very lightly corroded exterior screws and connectors). So, maybe at some point the capacitive keys board just fried.

I’ve tried to calibrate multiple times. Also cleaned the connectors thoroughly all to no avail.

Here’s what’s happening now:
  • Boot P4 without touch board connected = stable display.
  • Plug touch board in while powered on = immediate random cycling on display.
  • Unplug touch board = scrolling continues until next power cycle.
  • Power cycle with touch board still plugged in = random scrolling continues.
  • Power cycle with touch board connected = back to stable display.

Here’s a video of the latest scrolling:

At this point, I think the issue is definitely with the touch board. Just not sure if that’s a part we are able to replace as opposed to replacing the whole device?

@Gaël - thoughts?

Please verify that the power supply is indeed a 12V power supply and not a 24V power supply.
Eureka (ish)!!

So I actually had already verified the power supply I was using was correct and it was.

But after you made this comment, I started thinking that maybe it was a faulty power supply.

Sure enough I had an extra lying around and tried it. Unfortunately, that didn’t fix the issue and the screen kept cycling.

So I went back to the old power supply and tried a couple of other troubleshooting steps. No luck.

Then it dawned on me that I never tried to recalibrate the keys with the spare power supply.

Plugged in the spare again and recalibrated keys. So far, problem solved!!!!

Seems the first power supply was indeed faulty.

Thank you so much for the support and truly appreciate you guys supporting a second hand unit.
