That was just to make sure I have a shooting lane from 15 up to 35 yards.
Got to be patient my friend, just like reefing.
If you rush weird things will happen.

I don't hunt anymore... My wife won't cook it, or eat it, just doesn't make any sense. I'm a competitive long distance shooter, and live way out in the stix... shooting a deer isn't much of a challenge. I could shoot one from my hot tub.

Buddy of mine came and hunted on my property opening day, went home with a nice 9pt buck. He usually brings be a stick of summer sausage :)

I was going to post a pic, but the only one I have is your typical bloody dear in a truck bed shot... decided there's some folks around here that wouldn't appreciate that sort of thing.

Lol.
Where I hunt deer are smart, you blink your eyes they are gone.
I used to rifle hunt and 500 yards with a good rifle 6.5 isn't that hard.
Bow hunting got my all going again.
If I have too much meat I drop it off at Camp Hope PTSD housing for veterans in Houston.
Never can have enough meat for those guys.

Katy, TX? Whoever it was that said everything is bigger in Texas has never seen them horned jack rabbits they call deer down there :)

In my neck of the woods, Buffalo Missouri, 100 yards on a deer is a long shot. There's a reason that a 30/30 is the most popular hunting rifle in this part of the country... you don't need anything more. Lever guns rule the Ozarks :) 6.5? I've got a Ruger precision in 6.5 Creedmoor. Great shooter. Useless for deer around here. With a little patience, you could probably kill a deer in my woods with a baseball bat. Lots of deer, thick woods, heavy brush.

It was to hot for the big boys to come out and play during our hunt this year so settled for these but they taste great. 20171104_094518_1510179396791.jpg Would have got better pics but it was already getting hot so took thwm and iced them down. they where both over 200 lbs after gutting.

I found a nice 10 pt in my tank, not much luck in field this year though

DSC_2080.jpg

Nice!
I had many 10 point and lots more points on the colonies.
No I'm not missing the SPS game.
I hope to recover from my 4wheeler rollover on thanksgiving day
Few broken ribs, fingers and a back that is protesting in everything I do but it's all good.
Will be back in the saddle soon as I have a big hunting trip coming up in January.

Had a great first weekend but no trophy maybe this weekend but it's kinda getting hot in the blind.

A small scrub buck just begging me to shoot it earlier this year. Instead I took some pics since I already had a doe. Hoping for a trophy buck during black powder season in a few weeks

Yikes, I hope the recovery goes smoothly. My son and I rolled one earlier this year, I was very fortunate that all I got was a sprained ankle and my son was unscathed.

Hoping for better luck with doe/spikes in Jan.
