Can anyone suggest some good online courses relating to reef keeping? Whether they are college courses or something else, I don't mind. I'm not looking to get a degree or certifications, I just want to learn and do something productive with my time. I'm retired and disabled and there is only so much netflix one can watch. Free courses would be great but I don't have any problem with paying for a class.

The only thing I can think of is Mr. Saltwater tank. I know he runs courses just not sure exactly what he covers in these courses. @mrsaltwatertank maybe he can chime in for you.

I think Yale or Stanford have a bunch of classes you can take or sit in on for free.

Edit, now that I think about it a lot of schools have classes you can take for free/sit in on for no credit. Look around and you'll be sure to find something!

Another place you can find short educational videos is BRS....on all different subjects...more bent towards equipment and product use. Check them out HERE. And they are FREE!!!

And if reading is your thing, check out some of the stickies in the various forums right here on R2R.....and keep reading all the forums here....you'll get an education (with a grain of salt). :D

I took several online classes through the Museum of Natural History. They probably don't have reef keeping but they might have something of interest. There is a decent amount of work that goes along with it. Every week there is a paper due and they have a fourm set up for the course where you have to post at last 3 or 5 times a week. Plus a end of the course paper. If you are not doing it for credit the work doesn't matter much, but you won't learn much either. You should look into geology and biology courses relating to the ocean as oppose to a course on reef keeping.

Check out your community college. You will get hands on experience.

BRS and Marine Depot have lots of great videos. REEF EDITION is a digital magazine that R2R is getting going. It's not a course, but will have some great articles.
