I was looking at buying a pair of fancy clownfish for my newly set up tank and I saw BRS was selling them for very cheap. My LFS quarantines the fish for you but it would be about $200+ total to quarantine and buy from them. BRS is selling them from ORA for only $83 and that is much more reasonable. Does anyone know if the fish are pre quarantined? I know Dr. Reefs is pre quarantined but it is much more expensive for a pair. Thanks for the help!

Did you factor in shipping cost as well as risk to the fish while in transit? I prefer to buy fish locally unless it is really unavailable. Especially now that it is summer.

ORA are captive bred. This does not mean that they QT them though. Chances are lower of getting something with captive bred but not 0. I do not believe they strictly QT their fish though.

twenty is right, they do not guarantee a quarantined fish. there is essentially zero risk of getting a parasite or disease from their fish, but not zero.

relatedly, there is also a theory that CB fish have less selection for strong immune systems than WC fish so they’re likely to catch any existing pathogens in your water.

i would recommend you do an observation phase with the clowns in water from your systems as this would mitigate both of these risks i mentioned

I bought my bonded ORA pair via BRS, and I am very happy.
