Is it getting enough to eat?
You say your system is at 0 nitrates and phosphates.
My RP looks amazing and I never have less than 4 nitrates and phosphates have been anywhere between .03 and .12.
Coral need food. Not just light. Whether it's fish food, aminos, coral frenzy, oyster feast, etc.
I ended up pulling GFO off my tank completely because my sps, including my RP started getting real pale.
As soon as I did that and started feeding more, everything came back strong.

As for placement, mine is up high and it gets moderate flow.

Hey bud, thanks for the response. I had turf algae before and wasn't getting accurate readings. I feed heavily, rods at night and Acropower.

I don't run any type of filter media, just 5 gallon water change weekly. Here's a picture of my SSC and Hawkins.

Ah, gotcha.
Are you running LED?
My RP did great under LED but I know I've heard of people who have had a lot of trouble with RP under LED.
On the other hand my Mille looked like a turd under LED for a year, then i switched to MH/T5 and it exploded in growth and color.
Odd how things can be so different from coral to coral.
