Forgive the good enough approach but I made a video on set up to get people started, it covers all the basics of getting an ORCA online, since these are starting to ship now I needed to knock something out fast and plan to make a much better version soon. Yeah, I know, I look rough, the lighting sucks, etc, etc. I owe a great deal of thanks for getting this far to Ryan Thompson, Felix Tunze and Tobias Vonau, basically when the first units came in myself and Ryan set one up and were fairly frustrated, Tobias in particular basically worked in real time to fix bugs in the app and there were many translation issues and all working together it came really far in just a couple weeks, especially considering most of this work was over the holidays. Most issues were a lack of understanding and translation. I also need to thank Russ Kikel of American Reef for the fast editing. I am happy to answer any questions on set up, I will be honest though, the number of settings is overwhelming, so I may not be much help on a specific goal for a setting, that will largely be trial and error. There are a huge range of adjustments, oscillation speed, angle, speed of the pump, pulsing, rate the pump changes speed, stop points, etc and with all these overlapped it is a lot to process. I kind of think of it as flying vs driving, it gets a lot more complex with the 3rd dimension added, that is a good thing but you will need to be willing to play a bit as these are new, and there is no simple formula for everyone. The app is going to do a lot more in the future, it was designed as a very advanced reef chemistry management tool and eventually the existing Tunze HUB pumps will also be ported over.

Game changer .......

Fun fact - Ed over at Sea Swirl has had a sweep out now for well over 20 years. Tunze obviously made some nice improvements to the control of it which is a nice with their design not to mention the size.

If you or anyone want to see why the prices are what they are I would encourage you to look at Tunzes build video on this. A lot of attention to detail and manual labor. Warranty along is worth the price.

These things are worth every penny. I’ve had mine running a few weeks now and haven’t even skimmed the surface of what it can do.

Roger is not joking when he says we were getting real time fixes when bugs and translation issues popped up. I would find something random, tell Roger, Roger tells Tobias, and it was fixed within hours or was already fixed and I needed to update 😆

I’ll have another write up on early thoughts and impressions but will just say the quality behind this thing blew my mind. Absolutely dead silent.

How did you get so lucky - not even really out yet in the states.

Bummer, thanks Ryan. I have holes drilled in my eurobrace that would fit the shaft but not shaft and a cable 😭
Glass or acrylic? Easy to enlarge either way with a hole saw and a hole template.

Since the shaft is a replaceable part, I’d reach out to Roger and see when spare parts will be available and maybe you can rig one to fit the cable into?

With a good drill press and vice to hold it, I imagine you could drill a hole in the shaft and pass the cable through. Might have to drill a couple holes now that I’m thinking about it since you won’t be able to go up through the clamp. So you’d need a hole above the clamp and then one above your Eurobrace.

It would be a fun project but plan on it not working 😂 if it does work you get a nice surprise

I was thinking of doing this anyways just to clean up the wiring in the tank. Beta version 2.0 begins 😆
