i added a purple fire fish to a six line wrasse, occ clown and yellow watchman goby. gets along fine with all the fish besides the yellow watchman. go figure.

That's cool. The OP was just asking about a firefish with an orchid dottyback combo. My biggest caution is these species are both notorious jumpers (wrasses,too). ++1 Succinctly and eloquently put.If the tank is completely covered, a firefish can be added to a tank with an orchid dottyback. If a tank is uncovered, then a firefish should not be added, regardless of tankmates.
