So 4 days ago i added an Ora bred orchid dottyback to my 110g tank with minimal rock an 6 other mostly peaceful fish. Have only gotten 2 quick glimpses since. It never comes out at feeding time. Hiding in holes in rock. How long can it survive like this?

When I got mine, it never really came out for a few weeks and is still one of the more shy fish. I have a feeling it hunts at night and picks up whatever is left over or hunts when you aren't around. I did have some snails and hermits around, figuring if it really got hungry then they'd provide a snack but dont think it really goes after any of them either. It does like the san Francisco bay marine cuisine carnivore formula frozen food. Doesn't like much else.

When I got my first captive-bred dottyback in January, it promptly disappeared for ten days in my Evo; I couldn't find it anywhere. Ten days later, it reappared, behaving as if nothing had happened. It was later the only survivor of an accidental bleaching disaster. They're hardy!
