How’s it going everyone one. I recently purchased an Orphek icon. I’m planning on putting it over my Red Sea 250…

the Orphek is an insanely heavy light. And not that I couldn’t do it but I’m not too sure I feel like hanging a 15lb dumbbell over my tank lol. I’ve read mixed reviews after the purchase of the fixture that the mounting arms are each bent to a different degree after receiving their product. Although nobody has questioned the strength of them.

so my question is does anybody have any experience with this light and or hanging it as well?

Depending how high you want the light from surface. You can build a rack over the tank cheaply with 1” pvc- even 1 1/4”

I built my own from extruded aluminum. Super strong and no worries of anything bending etc. I built my own because they did not have a hanging kit back then.

I have the hanging kit with eye hooks screwed into the floor joists above. The light is a heavy beast for sure but as long as the mounting points are secured in joists/framing, you shouldn't have much to worry about.

Just got my light today. First thing I noticed was a crack in the plexiglass face. Also the light did not come with the gangway so I can’t even connect to the light. Yeeeehaw

I guess I didn’t see that you need to purchase the gangway if you want to connect to the light. I can’t find one in stock anywhere. Does anybody know where I can find one for sale?

I didn't know they still sold the v4's. This was brand new purchase correct? If so what was reason to buy v4 over icon?

The Orphek Icon does not require the use of the gateway.

The light he has is clearly marked on top that it's a v4 but the title says icon. So hopefully OP can clear things up. If it's an upgraded v4 to icon, or new icon with old v4 faceplate. Then no gateway is needed. Op just needs the app and off and away they go. But if it's v4, he will need the gateway.

It’s the v4. I bought it brand new never opened in box for next to nothing. And the title is a typo but not that big of a deal. I’ll just have to find a gateway for the light unless I can upgrade it and forget about the gateway all together. Thank you for all your help. If I can’t find a gateway I’ll do the kit
