Looking to change from my single Kessil a360x Tuna Blue for more actinic look and coral pop. I really want that color fluorescence in my tank. Unless I can get it with the Kessil, I’m looking at Orphek OR4s as the main light and taking the Kessil off line.

For what I described, which OR4 would be best? The Blue Sky or the UV/Violet?
Also I would like the option of having a whiter spectrum during the day.

Said another way, I want actinic lights for evening but also want a whiter spectrum for mid day.

Looks like the UV/Violet will achieve the actinic look I want. I just don’t know which light to supplement for a whiter spectrum.

So the Blue Sky and Blue Plus lights have enough white in them to run a not so blue mid day light?

As it is now, I currently don’t run a full white spectrum mid day

Here’s info on the OR3 spectrums:

Not really prefer it, I just want the ability to have a more natural look mid day.
My main objective is to get that color pop.

Is there any shimmer with these lights?

Shimmer.. not really.
The thing about the OR4 bars is that you cant change the spectrum-- just the intensity. They arent like Blades. Treat them like T5 bulbs.

Would the blue plus be a better compliment to the UV/violet since the two spectrums are more closely aligned? I don’t need a lot of white, I just don’t want actinic all day.

OR4 bars are focused colors. If you want any sort of white spectrum, you'd have to get a Atlantik or Natura to have that. UV is more like a VHO type look and Blue plus is about where the Ecotech blues are. Sky blue is more like a electric type blue. It's got some whites in it but it looks blue not really white.

Do you know how any of those compare with the Kessil Tuna Blue? It has more than enough white for me. Even at 30% on color, that’s enough white

So maybe a Sky blue and UV/Violet combination and adjust intensity to get the look I want? Would that be feasible?
It's possible. I run the OR4s as supplements. I can't tell you for sure if it'll be the combo you're looking for. The UVs don't offer much in par ratings. It really is for the pop.

I’m also thinking I could keep my Kessil where it is and add on a couple of OR4s for the pop.

I really don’t need a lot of PAR as I have mostly LPS…I have one monti that’s either gonna make it or not. I’m looking for 125-150 at the top.

I would keep your kessils for shimmer and daylight. Use the OR4s to suppliment them. Blue plus has a wide blue spectrum and more pop than blue sky. The UV violet will be more purple and isn’t going to have the same pop as blue plus either.

I appreciate that information. Really helpful

I have (14) OR3s (combo of Day+, Sky Blue, and UV/Violet) and (2) OR4 UV/Violet. If you're looking for pop, the OR4 UV/Violet may be under powered, esp trying to penetrate a 30” deep tank. In fact, the OR3 UV/Violet seemed brighter. I don't have a PAR meter but I can tell from my naked eyes.

Personally, if I had to do it all over again, I would go with AI, Meridian, or Quanta? I'm somewhat disappointed but oh well.

I have a nano aquarium and it’s only 17.7” deep
