my latest was standing on a round log to look over the fence. hint rounds roll down hill. at least the ankle was not broken and i don't wear tight shoes

So, just an update.... I'm having surgery on Monday. I've been completely non-weightbearing for 2 weeks now, and after surgery, I have 8 MORE weeks of zero-weightbearing, and then PT. I have a fracture AND a torn ligament that is compromising the stability of my ankle and I may end up with hardware through my tibia and fibula to clamp them together so the joint heals properly.

This sounds like something you say to your wife after a weekend of drunken debauchery on a wild bender to Las Vegas where you've stolen a zoo animal, married a ****** and woken up with bags of drugs and a mystery broken ankle.

Ugh! Sorry to hear about your ankle.
I had surgery to repair a tendon last year...non-weight bearing for 6 weeks.
Keep it elevated. To reduce swelling, put an ice pack behind your knee. It cools the blood as it goes to your foot. Because it does not work as well as direct contact, I keep the ice pack on a lot and changed them frequently. I had to use my shoulders to push my self up from sitting and they eventually started hurting. Take care of the rest of your body because everything else will be compensating.
I preferred a wheelchair around the house and at first when going out. Then I used a walker when out (One with the seat would have been awesome). A knee scooter is nice, but they are not always stable. A shower bench is nice also.
And ask for help if you need it!
