i love this blenny, lot of personallity, he is turning his eyes ball and always watching you.
Sometimes he hides from me in his hidey holes. Then the rest of the time likes to show off. He’s awesome .

I want my flame hawfish to be more active. Hopefully in time.

Not much to update. My two montes (montys?) are gone :( but that has been a bit now. I was holding on to dreams.

I purchased some magic mud and out that in the refugium.

also purchased the reefwave so installed that in the display tank and put a small Wavemaker in fuge.

I removed some blocks that were having some cyano.

this is the after :

I think I am happy with the movement. There’s not too much but the ball of chaeto is moving a bit.

also I think I may need to get more magicmud. I only purchased 5 lbs.

I finally was able to use my Hanna phosphate checker!

These are my current parameters:

Hanna: Phos PO4: 106/ .325
Hanna: Alk: 7.6
API: Calcium: 400
API: Carb /kh: 7/ 125.3
API: Nitrate: 40

For alk I have a Hanna checker and I have an API Reef master test kit. It comes with tests for calcium, carbonate hardiness, phosphate and nitrate.

I recently purchased the Hanna checkers for alk and phosphate

@Rmckoy sorry if I got you confused. Getting used to testing and the correct wording.
I have the Hanna phosphorus ULR which gave me a reading of 106.

I looked up the conversion chart and it = .3 phosphates. I should have been more clear. Sorry about that!

Also!

I have these…. I don’t know what they are. They don’t move. They are stuck to the glass or they are dancing in my reactor. Lol

I posted the video in a small Facebook group and someone suggested they are pineapple sponges.

It’s very impressive for sure …

but it was unclear knowing you used api test kits .and knowing they do not give ppm for alk
1 drop = 1 dkh …

Moving forward .
phosphates and nitrates are a little on the high side . What media are you using in your reactor ?

if I can offer a tiny suggestion …..
slow the flow a little . Tumbling as much as It is will cause it to grind and eventually break down .

Agree with sponge . But have you fed any large freeze dried foods such as krill ?

I didn’t think sponge would grow on moving surfaces

I believe there’s only carbon in the reactor.

I will bring it down! Thanks!!

i do feed a lot lol I should probably cut that down. I currently have :

blue tang
Midas blenny
Clown
Damsel
Diamond goby
Flame hawkfish
3 shrimp
4/5 emerald crabs
20-30 hermits
20-30 snails
4 nesarius snails
2 urchins

I feel like I’m forgetting someone lol

but I feed one block in the morning plus pellets, and the same in the evening.

Having a blue tang is all the more reason to slow the reactor with carbon .
Watch for his fact to change colour .
