Thanks for sharing the chart. I'd seen it previously but didn't remember it until just now. As it stands it comes in handy.
How are the water parameters coming?
It's hard to go slow when you first start but trust me, take your time and go slowly. Enjoy the process. Good luck to both of you going forward. You joined a great family. Tons of experience and reliable advice on these pages.

Thank you! I put an update from yesterday. Water parameters are looking great and the owner of the LFS which is now my home btw ;Hilarious said that all levels are good. My phosphate was a little high and also my salinity was a tiny bit high as well.

Update !

So… had some kind of Dino outbreak.

I made a thread about it:

I got some good advice and went dark until Thursday night while dosing bacteria.

The tank looks much much better!

How are your phosphates and nitrate levels? I found the only way to keep those dinos in check is keeping these levels up

Looks great . The only thing I would try changing is getting phosphates above 0
But this depends what kit they’re using to test .

do yourself the biggest favour and invest in a few quality test kits

I’d personally recommend
Hanna :ulr phosphorus
Hanna : alkalinity
Salifert : mag , cal , nitrates ,

salinity : choose one device whether it’s refractometer or conductivity meter
sometimes using multiple devices will give different results

Thank you! I think the LFS uses API, I think thats what I have seen them use. They had some other larger mechanical device that was out commission.

I put the two Hanna testers in my cart. When I was looking it all up before I was seeing that they were in the ~$200 range!? o_O SO, it was out of my price range for now....

BUT I see that both the Hanna checkers are in the ~$50 each range, and I think thats acceptable! Currently I have API so I will use what I have until its done then I will buy the Salifert.

I currently have a refractometer, and have no intentions on replacing until it breaks LOL

A refractometer is great .
I have a Hanna tester but not sure if I trust it as much as the refractometer .

I believe the Hanna phosphorus tester I was talking about is around $50
Reagent refills are cheap ( $10-$15 ) for I believe 25 tests

I also have old api kits including the master kit plus others such as cal , kh but it’s not hard to see the difference. .
Which is right ?

phosphate doesn’t test low enough for what we are looking for .

Tank is looking good as of lately. Gotta thank Stanley, the diamond goby, and the CUC!

I didnt have my water tested this weekend on Saturday when we went. We decided to stop by after going to the ZOO. lol

BUT of course we bought things! ;Smuggrin ;Hilarious:oops:;Greedy;Dead

$131
1 Ruby dragonet (Lucy) $20
1 green blanket anemone
5 gal water

On Sunday my bf installed our RO/DI in our garage. He also rearranged our sump. We had a friend make us a custom acrylic hanger for the socks./ All the bio balls are now gone. Woohoo! A little messy to remove.

We decided to remove the glass that separated the balls and the refugium so now our socks ( 2 ) are on their hanger but its open to refugium. I didnt take a photo of the sump yet. I will do that tonight.

A short vid of last nights feeding!
