Our new maxima clam from clammania!

Ever since starting our 32 bio cube I’ve always been fascinated with clams! Well we finally have a tank big enough for a clam so I got my first maxima clam. The excitement of getting the clam today and putting it in our tank is like a little kid in the candy store kind of feeling!! I introduce you to Ariel our beautiful maxima clam!

edited to add that my obsession started with clams when we got our bio cube years ago. We now have a waterbox 180.5 that Ariel is in.

I picked up a couple from clammania at RAP Orlando. Took a couple days for it to fully open but it’s doing great. What lighting are you using?

Congrats. I brought in a maxima last month. While moving, my hermits attacked and damaged the foot leading to it's eventually being cleaned out by the bristle worms. I hope yours fairs better. I was super bummed.

I have 6 XR15 G4’s and 8 T5’s, but it’s across an 8ft tank.

Ive never had good luck with clams. Ive tried 2 crocreas. Maybe 1 and 1 maxima.
The smaller ones need more foods and siphon particulate foods well as they get bigger they become more photosynthetic.
I think its the tissue surface area myself.
Right on. Hope he does well and grows nice and big!
