Overlaying videos on Macbook,help needed.

Once again I ask something about this laptop. I am not mac savy. How do you overlay movies in the imovie app?

It is NOTHING like Windows Movie Maker which I knew so well...

Is there a nicer free movie making program for Mac,that is more like the setup off WMM?

iMovie is pretty good,
I use adobe premier and Final Cut,
but I found this video which pretty much explains it really well and fast

wow, iMovie couldn't be easier IMO. iMovie Tutorial - YouTube
youtube will have almost every type of tutorial you will need, remember, a mac is not a PC, with iMovie, it really is super simple to create some great clips and movies.

Ok everything went perfect with Imovie until I got to the transitions..once again confusing as mess to me. I can put tranisitions in the 1st degree clips but on the 2nd(clips that are laying over the 1st degree) I CAN NOT put a transition,so It ruins the flow of the video.

Im probably doing something wrong,once again. Anyone know what im doing wrong?
