I think you have the opportunity to make your system as simple or as complicated as you’d like nowadays. It’s one of the aspects of the hobby today that makes having an internet forum so interesting... seeing the different methods people are using, and their successes and failures first hand.
Feel free to read up in the member’s tank section to see what other’s are up to with their tanks. And of course, make sure to start a journal for your tank, too ;)
