Hey there! My main question, is this your first saltwater tank or first time getting into saltwater?Ok what sw predator fish could I keep instead of panther grouper and lionfish when planning to have sw predator tank for the future though im used to freshwater predator fish like RTC and the others in my 500 gallon pond for now. The reason I ask this is because if you don’t like the saltwater side, or maybe want to go for a community reef instead, rehoming predatory fish is much more difficult.
Panther groupers color dull out when they get older. Its not that pretty iridescent white and black as they have as juvenile. Plus a grouper could eat anything it could fit in its mouth and half of what it cant. They grow fast, make a mess in your water and can be bullys to newcomers . Ditch that specific grouper idea. Its too big.Is there any other sw predator fish can be kept with panther grouper in a long term alternatives instead of volitan lionfish please give options that can be great tank mates with the grouper with zero size mismatch or risk?
Large triggers, Niger, Bluethroat, HumuIs there any other sw predator fish can be kept with panther grouper in a long term alternatives instead of volitan lionfish please give options that can be great tank mates with the grouper with zero size mismatch or risk?
Question? Do they grow faster than volitan lionfishes? I pick the niger! But I don't know if I can keep an eel! But do they get the similar size of the panther grouper without taking the risk?Large triggers, Niger, Bluethroat, Humu
Large angels, Emporer, Blueface
Large tangs, Sailfin, Naso.
I'm sure there are others.
you could probably do an eel too, assuming you built it a good habitat. Snowflake, Zebra...
To be honest I really am not sure.Question? Do they grow faster than volitan lionfishes? I pick the niger! But I don't know if I can keep an eel! But do they get the similar size of the panther grouper without taking the risk?
Id say a volitan and the niger have the same growth rate. Volitan maybe a little faster depending your feeding habits. They can get up to 12 inches and a niger could get to about a foot if you're lucky in an aquarium. Id guess somewhere in between 4 and 5 years. Ive had my 3 nigers for almost 4 years and my biggest is 8 inches.Question? Do they grow faster than volitan lionfishes? I pick the niger! But I don't know if I can keep an eel!
