The schutes are the bigger ones consistent to a Squamosa.
With that picture I'm comfortable calling that a maxima my friend

Wow, i bought it from a very very reputable LFS and was told its a Squamosa, oh well.

Clam ID's can be difficult and the clam could've came in marked as a squamosa too.
Understood, well I did want a Squamosa, but Maxima it is. Well now that changes things for me as far as lighting and placement.

If you can, place the clam on a moveable flat rock and once it attaches you can move it around higher in the tank. Also, you have a reason to buy another clam;Hilarious

Lol, thanks! I was thinking the same as far as a reason to buy another clam!!!!

Im looking at options for lighting. Thanks for the suggestion!!

I have a kessil a360 narrow I just got for my clam system. I have it mounted pretty low but it seems to put out a good deal of PAR compared to the wide angle (at cost of less spread) and think it's a good option for clams.

I had asked about the Orbit Marine Pro dual lights because this is what they show for PAR.

So, voice of experience here. I went from two Orbit Marine Pros to two Kessil A160WE on my 40 gallon bowfront. I also rented a PAR meter from BRS and have attached that data here as well. The tank isn't necessarily brighter to the human eye, but I know the spectrum is correct for coral growth and I now know without doubt what PAR levels my reef is getting. I would advise a lighting upgrade for anything more demanding than LPS. Just my two cents, brother.
