PE mysis shortage?

Is anyone else around the country having issues getting PE brand mysis? All the LFS by me on Long Island that usually carry them are saying they can’t get them and there’s a shortage. Anyone else hear this?

I've not bought any in over a month so I'm not sure about around here. I do remember a post not too long ago where someone was having the same problem with shortages of PE but I can't remember where the member was located.

Don't have any real info, but I know the mysis are actually raised in Canada, maybe it's tariff/import related.

I ended up switching to hikari. I was able to get the big 40oz flat packs from @WWC easily but not anymore. I went and called the store for weeks until I placed my order for the hikari frozen food at BRS.

Yeah, I’ve used hikari in the past, so I got that. Just found it weird.

No explanation, I've reached out to the company multiple times and gotten nothing but silence.

Yeah still nothing here in NY either. I’ve gone to hikari which is very small and using LRS Reef Frenzy

I will try out Hikari Jumbo mysis - they also were selling a version of PE mysis which they abruptly discontinued after it only being available for a year or two..

It seems to be the same stuff as Hikari's Ocean Plankton - which seems like a saltwater version of large mysis

My fish seem to like it - but I haven't been able to find out much about it from other hobbyists.

It’s impossible to find here too. I’ve moved to Hikari because it’s easy to find. They also have spirulina gut loaded mysis and omega gut loaded mysis too.

Called up BRS and they have hundreds (as in 200-400) flat packs arriving end of month

It seems @Dr. Reef has PE mysis including the 40oz pack. I placed an order for 4 packs, it has not shipped but my order moved to acquired. I will share updates.

In my case, Dr. Reef was not able to fulfill my order. I did contact PE mysis directly and they offered to sell direct. The only issue, I needed to buy a case, 10 packs of 40oz. I was quoted $650 shipped. The guy on the phone said there was not a shortage from their end. I end up buying 20 packs of various Hikari frozen foods from BRS.

Curious if the guy you spoke with on the phone was a rep from PE? *edit I see you said you talked to PE directly. Completely missed that*

I called the number at the pe mysys official website, this number to be exact:

TOLL FREE: 1-888-220-2238

He had me on hold for like 3 mins or so since he had to look up the price. He was familiar with the dealer price. He said my order could ship the next day, we spoke on a Monday. That gave me the impression the packs are sitting there waiting to be shipped.

I also find it strange since WWC still only has the small and medium packs. I was there 3 weeks ago.

I could not stomach spending 650 at once, I would have used it in time but still. Not sure what is truly going on but it is frustrating. A 40oz pack will last me about 1.5 months. I purchased the 16oz packs and give it to my fish like a treat now. They know the difference between Hikari and PE mysis.

Thanks. I just want me some PE mysis dang it lol! Wonder if there was a harvesting issue, tariffs or what.

Yea I don’t blame you not spending that kind of money at all.

I’ve always used PE mysis since I started reefing. It’s by far superior to other brand’s mysis, but I’m not going to play games with them and pay silly prices for it.
