Hi Reefers,

I am looking for one or two peaceful wrasses to complement the stock I already have in my tank. Preferably in Blue or Green shade :) My tank is a five foot 143 gallons Cade 1500.

Current wrasses in tank:
1 x Timor Wrasse (Halichoeres timorensis)
1 x Blue sided fairy wrasse (Cirrhilabrus cyanopleura)

Note: I have just removed a Tonozukai's Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus tonozukai) because it an ***** in the tank

Other stock:
2 x Common Clown Fish
1 x Lawnmower Blenny
1 x One-spot Foxface Rabbit Fish
1 x Pink-spotted Watchman Goby
1 x Coral Beauty
1 x Cherub Angle Fish
5 x Lyretail Anthias (1 x male)
1 x Bengali Cardinal Fish
1 x Bicolor Blenny
1 x Purple Fire fish
1 x Long Nose Hawk Fish
1 x Royal Gramma

Planned additions (going in in three weeks):
1 x Tomini Tang
1 x Purple Tang

Cheers! :D

I am considering a Jade Wrasse (Halichoeres chloropterus) but i read mixed reviews regarding his ‘peacefulness‘ :face-with-spiral-eyes:

With a cyanopleura, you’re unlikely to be successful in adding any more Cirrhilabrus and Paracheilinus species.
you could add species from these genera;
- Halichoeres
- Macropharyngodon
- Anampses
- Pseudojuloides

Bad idea. Coming from someone WITH this wrasse, don’t do it. The only reason I would say someone should try it is if they know what wrasse aggression looks like or their wrasse gang is already nasty. If I’m honest, this is a species I think I’ll have the specimen I have now and then never again, keeping it is a great experience but they really just are aggressive in most tanks.

Blue spot tamarin wrasse
Exquisite wrasse

I was going to suggest an exquisite, but I do not know the whole mixing of fairies. I break the rules most times when it comes to mixing(acclimation box is a must in these situations).

I agree with the tamarin but not the exquisitus considering there is already a cyanopleura in there.

Thank you, spot in with your wrasse-knowledge as always! Oh, i know about wrasse aggression - i currently have the Tonozukai sitting in the bad-boy jail in the tank waiting to go back to my Glasgow LFS!

Getting a bad chloropterus is worse than Tonozukai aggression… I got lucky with my chloropterus so far being minimal in aggression however these guys can snap fast.

Wonder if i could get away with any of these if my guy can get his hands on one… Hmm!

- Melanurus Wrasse (Halichoeres melanurus)

- Leopard Wrasse (Macropharyngodon meleagris)

There is a chance the melanarus won't like the timor but it will probably work since the timor is already in there.

The leopard should work just fine :)
The Mel is slightly risky, I’d thrown in a Leucoxanthus and Iridis into the mix for Halichoeres.

Consider one or harem of the below.
eight-Line Flasher, Flame Fairy (hard to get until Hawaii open up again) or Exquisite Fairy. (I do not think mine is aggressive). There are plenty of other docile flasher and fairy wrasses. If blue or green shade is what you want, the Leopards are perfect.
