Pectinia placement?

I've had a big 4"x5" chunk of a pectinia coral sitting in the corner of my tank for about a month now. It is nice and healthy looking and was planning on moving it from the corner. Do I stick this thing on a rock somewhere or do I leave it in the sand.

usually up in the rock work, they do appreciate lower light levels. Dont let debris settle on them

There's one at my lfs that's been sitting on the sand for a while and it looks good. I'm gonna buy it eventually. Can I see a pic of yours when you get time?
