Pectinia Show Off Thread

My current obsession is finding unique Pectinias and all started when I saw this bad Larry at Manhattan Aquariums . The picture doesn't do it justice, it was truly a beautiful specimen. It seems to have a bit of blue in it so not totally sure it’s the standard Space Invader.

So I found my own Space Invader frag from a local refer and started my grown out. This grew from a single mouth over the past 6 months. Not as puffed out as it gets as it was an AM pic.

And just got this great looking Rainbow Pectinia from Triton Marine Aquaculture @TMA

What does everyone else have??

I have always wanted to try some pectina, but they just will not work in any of my 4 systems. My hubby would lose it completely if I tried another set up. :)

I bought a small piece a few years ago and I’ve had pretty good luck with it. I have a ‘fragging’ piece and my show piece. This is the show piece. It’s probably tea plate plate sized now.

I wish I could find some rainbow pectinia with the green, orange and blue but it’s probably been 5 years or more since I’ve seen a piece.

I want to get one of these, but the spot I have for it is pretty high up in the tank. Do they like a good amount of light?

@Kellie in CA they tolerate a fairly wide range of lights. I had the colony in the pic above in super high par and it was fine. I keep other pieces lower down in the tank and they all seem to do well.

My space invader, grown from a small frag and nearly lost twice due to tank issues (dinos and contamination) but has bounced back well.

Just picked up two small frags of this pectinia. Seller called it an UFO Pectinia. Big pic is of the mother colony. Can’t wait for mine to get that big!

I'm on a pectinia kick right now. Looking for any colony sized pieces for sale. My goal is to pack a new 60gal cube with maiy pectinia colonies.....hehehe.

Just picked this one up recently and today I noticed it has stringy brown things coming out of all the mouths and was super puffy ? Any idea what this can be or mean ?

If it's coming from the center of the yellow it is poop.

Here’s an update of some of the Pectinias I posted earlier. In all I bought 4 colonies with 3 adapting well to captivity. I had to frag up my quad color due to RTN from a shipping injury (smaller frags middle far left and right). The other two continue to put down a robust skeleton but don’t ‘fan out’ like the space invader.

I have a 5th one given to me in a ‘hail Mary.’ Been able to stabilize it and tissue is expanding. I’ve found removing dead skeleton and (and an occasional lugols bath) goes a long way. This one was a very orange and turquoise. Here’s to hoping it starts putting down new skeleton

Love this coral. Similar to pectina is pavona potato chip coral. Love them both. ♡
