I love the growth pattern on them and that’s why I bought mine a couple of years ago. It just never grew like the ones I see here, I still love it.

Mines not been a super fast grower. There is 4 years of growth between the video and still image above.

@littlebigreef Quite a few are currently in the sump, they are recent imports and getting TLC whilst they settle in

Purple with green mouths, new frag into the display

Two rainbows at the top, the bottom one is weird. It has gold streaks and alsorts of colours but just a new addition so lost its colour.

Mostly minty with black bits and a tiny frag of mostly black with bits of mint.

Looking forward to getting the sump ones settled and into the tank!

It’s looking really good! There were a few wild ones I tried that never settled. One was brown and gold. Usually you just see the space invader and the tri color ones. Your green and orange one looks like it’s got a ton of potential.

Yeah same here in the UK, occasionally weird wild ones turn up. I'm working on a settling technique which has so far really improved the initial success. Just need to work out the longer term!

With pectinia I see mostly bi and tri colors that include blue and/or green. Once settled they def glow up.

I’ve seen a handful of splatter types (usually green). Occasionally you’ll see a really wild one that’s some combination of burgundy, gold, yellow, brown, or purple. I think those probably get snapped up when imported and squirreled away like nice welsoni.

Having had these for so many years they’ve grown out and been trimmed several times. I can’t exactly say what encourages an ‘erupting’ growth pattern vs a plating one. You’d think flow but I’m not so sure. I will say I’ve seen many more uniquely grown space invader colonies than any others.

This is a pretty typical red/orange tri color.

This is my blue bi color. It’s gotten a little frosting in the tips since it was placed here.

And this is my quad color red/orange, green, dark blue, baby blue. Dark blue isn’t as apparent right.

Your blue bicolour is very interesting!

I have a frag of a red / burgundy booked from a coral grower.... Very exciting.

I think the growth form is probably due to which species it is, of which there are a few.

I’ve been browsing to see what pectinia is out there. It’s a coral where once fragged it really looses a bit of its essence until it can grow back out again.

This is an old pic but it exactly matches one I saw irl 11-12 years ago. Majestic. That’s a unicorn worth chasing.

Anyone have the sunrise pectinia or the peacock pectinia from TSA? I'm hesitating on pulling the trigger. The pictures look stunning but I wonder if they are really that colorful in person and how they show under different lighting. Please post pics and help me decide.

I bought this Space Invader a few months ago. Quite impressed with the growth so far. I had to put it a little lower in the tank because it was retracting in the brighter light higher up. Since then, it just took off.

The sunrise pic looks fairly juiced imo. Their peacock looks like a fairly standard tri color.
