I have these things too, they are a type of worm or something but i don't know exactly what they are. they haven’t caused any problems, they are just annoying and i don't know how to get rid of them.

Looks like pineapple sponges. Harmless filter feeder.

I had a feeling they might be after plucking some out but wasn’t sure as they almost look snail/egg/worm like.

Hard to tell from the pics. But they do like sumps and other cryptic zones in my experience.

Yeah, those are pineapple sponges; they tend to boom then bust in population before going away on their own.
