My local store had a whole stack of 75s yesterday when I was in for some frozen food.

A couple weeks back I picked up a 20 long for a QT

I happened to be in Petco (in Colorado) and they have the Aqueon frameless cube aquariums 50% off all the way up to the 60 gal cube. I believe the sale ends 4/1/23.

I just bought the 60 gallon cube from Petco for $175 ($350msrp) and have already cut it into 5 pieces to make a corner aquarium for an add alcove adjacent to the mechanical room I have for another reef system I have upstairs.

I had a hard time finding the corner aquarium size I needed to fit flush in the wall, so I decided to make my own.

The 60 cube is 3/8” beveled and polished glass and five 24x24” panels was less expensive than the local glass shop wanted to charge; so buying an aquarium to breakdown made the most sense.

I called Aqueon today and spoke with technical support to confirm the 60 rimless cube is not tempered glass, because I plan to cut/drill just about every panel, and the guy I spoke with confirmed they are not currently using tempered glass on the rimless cubes. He did admit to the mixing of tempered panels in the past that has been discussed here before.

The polarized sunglasses trick usually works, but all I had was a pair of Oakley Prism Polarized that turned different colors as I spun them around instead of blackening out or showing tempered lines to determine which is which.

I made the first triangular cut this evening on the bottom panel with no tempered explosions, so the rest should be down hill.

Here are some pictures of the Aqueon frameless cube 60 gallon I took apart and stated cutting for a built in corner tank where my basement hallway takes an odd bend.

Be careful on the Aqueon 75g some of them are still tempered glass if you plan on drilling. Found out the hard way even after doing the polarized glasses/lcd screen trick.

I spoke on this recently. I did successfully drill a 75 aqueon in January. But, i search through at least 4 to find one that was assembled well.

After seeing this I think I am going to attempt to drill my new 60 gallon cube. I was worried about the possibility of it being tempered glass even after I did the polarized lens test.
