Hello I'm suspecting that my fishes have ick. They were fine yesterday today they have white specs on their fins I'm hoping that it was sand hence I was rearranging my landscape.

If it happens to be ick how can I treat them (best method) without having any casualties it's a fish only tank although I have a sump with chaeto and copepods

My 2-cents (... and you can Search R2R for all the details):

(1) Buy a Hanna Copper Checker. Today.
(2) Set up a hospital tank, if you don’t already have one. Buy CopperSafe, and start ramping it up.
(3) Either treat for 14 days (after full therapeutic level has been reached), and then quarantine in a seperate tank and observe for 14 more days, or complete a full course of copper treatment for 30 days. I recommend the full 30 days if it turns out to be Marine Velvet and not Ich.

@EmdeReef got you covered first (lol). Do realize that if you put copper in your main display tank— even though it may only be a FOWLR today— you may ‘seal your fate’ to some degree if you ever want to have things like invertebrates in that tank in the future. That’s why a separate QT/HT is always the best course of action. :)

How many fish are you needing to treat (i.e., what is the total number of “all” of them), and what type and size? Not ideal, but you’d be surprised what you can copper-treat/medicate in a 20 gallon QT/HT... you just need to watch your ammonia daily; get a SeaChem Ammonia Badge for $7.00 (2-day Amazon). ;)

6” fish? (Hard to judge from the photos.) How about a make-shift tank divider to get things going until you can get a 20 gallon? 5 gallons each for a few days— and getting treatment immediately— might be preferable over waiting until everything is ‘perfectly’ suited. (Essential to act fast if it happens to be Marine Velvet.)
