pH probe extension cable

I'm just wondering if anyone could put my mind at ease on a BNC extension cable for a pH probe. I'm assuming that a generic BNC extension would work fine, like this one for extending my pH probe connection. My Apex is more than 3' away from the sump where my replacement probe will be located (my old Neptune probe has failed).
Is there any reason that a generic BNC extension cable won't work?

Because of the low signal voltages involved and the possibility of induced interference, extension cables can in some cases cause problems.

If you use a reputable brand with decent shielding it may be okay - best bet is to try it out.

Several of the ones I was looking at were 3’ cables on the probe which is far too short for my needs

Thanks. The low signal voltage and potential interference was my concern. I just didn’t want to buy pH probe and extension and find it was a waste of money if the extension didn’t work and therefore the probe was useless too

Majority of them come with 10ft cable lengths. I would check with the manufactures to see what ohm it specifies. Some are 50 or 75. But yes you shouldn't have an issue. I picked up a random one for 6ft extension and didn't have any issues. BNC

In that case I would ask the pH probe manufacturer for their advice. They may even have a suitable extension lead.

I know that Milwaukee Instruments advise against using an extension with their probes.
